Listen To Us!

Bob Wuertz

Music Director

“There is no doubt that choral music is my strongest musical passion.  From an early age to present day I have always been singing.  My serious interests in choral music blossomed when I joined the concert choir in college.  Wanting to do more with my creative energies, I founded the Madrigal Singers my sophomore year and remained the conductor throughout grad school.”

“Attending the University of Redlands for under graduate studies, I couldn’t pick just one area of specialization, so I majored in three: organ, voice and choral conducting.  In addition I played Clarinet in the band and performed in various musical theatre productions.  It was a time of exploration, exhilaration and growth.”

“My Master of Arts degree was earned at Claremont Graduate University, where Choral Conducting became the primary focus.  My thesis was in choral music concert programming and preparation, an art form I have developed and used throughout my career.”

“Having developed a successful career in Real Estate sales, music became my avocation.  I have had the privilege to teach voice and be Director of Music Ministries at some wonderful churches, including Good Samaritan Episcopal Church in University City and my current position at La Jolla United Methodist Church.”

“Singing with the San Diego Men’s Chorus from 1997-2000 brought many wonderful memories:  making new friends, singing at the White House and at the Super Bowl here in San Diego.  Branching out, a small group of us gave birth to In aChord. I was honored to be their first Artistic Director. Our attention to tight harmonies, blend and musical excellence contributed to our memorable performances at GALA in Louisville and Seattle and the recording of our award winning CD “For All We Know”.”

“Creating my own jazz/pop arrangements for men’s voices was my fervor from 2003-2008, establishing Third Inversion Music, Inc. These pieces were showcased with a new group, The Cosmos, and sold to men’s ensembles across the country.  It was an amazing time and a most rewarding journey.”

“So now we come full circle, back to In aChord.  It is an absolute joy and honor to be back with this group. These gentlemen have kept the vision alive and well, providing music of quality and diversity, amazing audiences throughout San Diego.  I look forward to a future of continued musical excellence and the creation of life-long friendships!”
